Who rocks your [online] world?

Tattoo, the #1 broadband in the Philippines continues this year with its trailblazing recognition of social media celebrities and influencers with the prestigious Tatt Awards, the first-ever awards platform for online personalities who have inspired, led, influenced and sparked changes in the world in a positive way.

Learn how to nominate your online rockstar by watching this guide by Petra Mahalimuyak!

The first-ever Tatt awards held last year gathered and shone the limelight on technophiles, video vamps and passionate advocates of change.

This year, the Council members, led by Globe Tattoo’s Dong “@FierceDong” Ronquillo, include award-winning journalist and ABS-CBN News & Public Affairs social media pioneer Maria Ressa; Filipino singer, comedian, and YouTube sensation Mikey Bustos; TV Personality-columnist and style guru Tim Yap; former music director for the rock station NU107.5 FM and musician Francis Brew; Multi-awarded humor blogger and one of Tatt Awards 2011 winners, The Professional Heckler, Loi Landicho; one of the most sought-after corporate, fashion and advertising photographers in the Philippines, Wig Tysmans; TV Host, Editor, Columnist, Endorser and Actor Raymond Gutierrez; model, host, magazine editor and sports enthusiast Rovilson Fernandez; Commissioner to the National Youth Commission and Outstanding student leader Gio Tingson; and Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) Vice President Pao Peña.

Here are the categories you can choose from! Nominate your best bet NOW!

“This year’s Tatt awards will honor a new batch of digital rockers,” explains Dong Ronquillo, head of the Tattoo Nomadic Broadband Business. “What sets Tatt awards from other web-centric awards is that we look beyond mere statistics and acknowledge individuals who have expressed an opinion, created inspiring works or ignited social change. This is not a mere popularity contest but a recognition of people who used the social media space to share what they are most passionate about and, in the process, created positive influence and stirred action among people,” he adds.

These are just some of the behind-the-scenes of our shoot for The Moonleaf Summer 2012 Campaign shot by Joseph Pascual and filmed by Judd Figuerres. The locations were Maginhawa street and the vast grassy area that is the University of the Philippines – Diliman. I had the honor to tag along and experience working with these amazing people… oh just look how much fun we are having.

Watch out for our Summer Xie Xie Day!!! It’s a summer party you’ll never forget, so stay tuned at @moonleafteashop!

IMMAP Open Mic Night at Salon de Ning

I can still remember how fun the first IMMAP Open Mic Night is, and how I was very inspired as a guy who works in the social media industry; when all of a sudden, in a matter of months, here came the second round of industry stalwarts ready to inspire us all over again.

DSC_1035

DSC_0972

It was my first time at the Salon de Ning, and I must say that the photos do not do justice to how stunning it looks like. If it’s a woman, I’d describe her in a long black sequined gown. I can’t help to notice how this place shines!

DSC_0973

DSC_0974And there was the room every girl dreamed to have – A WHOLE ROOM OF SHOES!

DSC_0975

DSC_0976

DSC_0977

People from social media, blogging, advertising, government, design, and marketing among others attended the well-anticipated event hosted by none other than the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines or IMMAP. By now, I can already tell that IMMAP throws party like no other. With just the right touch of geekery and fun, I always expect to learn something new and get a little tipsy what with the overflowing booze!

The last one was Pecha Kucha, and now they take the form of a fishbowl format. You have to choose from #It’sMoreFunInThePhilippines, #WhatRocksYourSocks, or #Bawal. And one member of the audience can participate in the lineup of five speakers. You know me well enough if you know I joined #Bawal. Haha! I wasn’t chosen to be part of the lineup, but that’s good as well. I was tipsy (but comprehensible) before the talks even began

Speakers in #Bawal talked about plenty of stuff. But what I can summarize from that is that each of us have our own concept of what is wrong or prohibited. Truly, everything is subject in to discourse, and whatever bad is to me, may be not to another.

There were a lot of prizes given out to the audience. I wish I won the iPad from the raffle, hahaha, but I guess we haven’t shouted enough to the universe (Nica and I were actually shouting iPad the whole night, lol) but great for Thysz who won a bottle of Casa Noble Tequila for best dressed from her all-black number. Have I mentioned also that she’s in Young Star last week to represent Moonleaf Tea Shop? That’s my pretty boss!!! :)

DSC_0970

I cannot tell you more how nice this event is — I learned, met old and new friends, and had time to party with people who pretty much tweet for a living as I do (community managers, represent!!!) It’s time to engage people offline though that’s pretty much a joke, as most of us were in Twitter for most of the time, haha!

I am so looking forward to the third Open Mic Night!

Moonleaf: My Summer Staycation 2012

Come to think of it, staycation isn’t a bad idea at all. Though I’d really love to be in the islands by now because of this heat staring down at us, the city isn’t that unbearable with my favorite milk tea in hand.

See you all at Moonleaf!

Close Up Pyromusical + Concert!

DSC_1005It felt like I threw a big birthday party! LOLz!

DSC_1006Never the Strangers

DSC_1007

I was invited to the press conference, pyromusical, and concert held by Close Up Philippines on the same day my birthday is! I really had plans with friends to watch the fireworks on my birthday when they invited me so I requested if I can bring along Angela and Hanna as well! Thank you to Close Up for accommodating me and my friends!!! I really felt special that day – they even greeted me on Twitter that day, it was so crazy!

DSC_1008

DSC_1013

DSC_1015

We were led to the VIP section of the Close Up stage. They had a separate stage from the SM stage (which is near the bay area.) Very excluded from the crowd outside, and it was just comfy there. I didn’t even have to worry about my things. Most importantly, I could see the artists perform really near, and of course, take good photos!

The winners of the Pyromusical were announced, then the Philippine team  presented. There was a technical difficulty, and seriously SM needs back up plans when this happens again. Anyhow, they recovered after some 30+ minutes and continued with the show. Nothing really spectacular but it was good.

Grabbed the opportunity to do a photowalk of Chinatown even though I was running an hour late for our tweetup. I love Chinatown in the morning – it’s so busy and bustling with life. Also, I’m so excited for this tweetup – it’s been months since I’ve seen these people! Yay for tweetup and Chinese food = perfect combo!

DSC_0028Thank you Cafe Mezzanine for sponsoring our first tweetup for 2012

DSC_0024Kiampong. I love the nutty, machang-y flavor of the rice.

DSC_0026Asado. Best asado I’d had. Love that it ain’t too sweet.

DSC_0027Chinese Kikiam. Not a fan, but it’s fine.

DSC_0029Gokong. I love meaty soups. This one’s super pasok sa banga!

DSC_0025

Cafe Mezzanine is inherited and now owned by Gerry Chua a.k.a. Mr. Ube (also, owner of hopiang ube fame Eng Bee Tin.) They serve Xiamen, or Chinese street style, which according to Mr. Ube himself is the major Chinese cuisine predominant in the Philippines. What makes this place special is that 100% of their profit goes to the Binondo-Paco Fire Department and to TXTFIRE.

Mr. Ube wanted to show us the TXTFIRE office and facilties, so he invited us over at their HQ. It was a bit surprising to find technology like this in the middle of Chinatown.

DSC_0051

As if the day did not lead us to tire ourselves already, we found ourselves still walking around Chinatown. This time, in search of butter chicken.

DSC_0053

DSC_0054Don’t let the signage fool you. They serve really yummy Chinese food!

DSC_0055Butter Chicken. Satisfy thy craving for chicken and fat. Perfect while hot.

DSC_0056Oyster cake. I can taste the sea in my mouth! Plenty of oyster bits in a glutinous omelette.

DSC_0057Scallops and broccoli. Our ONLY veggie meal, but equally delicious. I just wish there are bigger scallops in this dish.

DSC_0058Machang. Note to self: Do not eat this by yourself. Incredibly heavy rice cake with chunks (read: big) of meat inside.

DSC_0059Chinese Kikiam. Again, not a fan. But this one’s better than Mezzanine’s

DSC_0060

DSC_0061

DSC_0063

We still weren’t done after eating like there’s no tomorrow. Coffee and Asado ensued at Cafe Sa Lido. Don’t ask why, it’s yummy and it’s reason enough to do it. No pictures though. Either I was too tired, too full, or too happy to snap one.

P.S. This is our longest tweetup ever. Lasted for almost eight hours! Are we gunning for 12 the next time, tweeps?
P.S.S. Wanna join us in our next adventure, follow us in Tumblr or like us in Facebook to know more about us.
