Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s Valentine’s day and I’m cutting my annual tradition of emo shitty posts on the day of hearts. For the first time, my V-day has been without drama so far and only love, love, love from my friends. Being single isn’t really bad at all (I’m a changed man! LOL)

Also, I want to show to you our Valentine’s feature at Moonleaf! So what if nobody’s there, right huh? This video is a proud production of our Design Team at DGNTY! Congratulations, team!

And for added V-day sizzle schmizzle, introducing internet star Sebastian Castro‘s ultra hot music video!!! BEWARE: if you’re busy don’t watch it now. It’ll keep you peeled to the screen like a… I don’t really wanna say anymore HAHAHAHA.

Gad, summer is indeed here. Hahahahaha. Get a hint, guys!

Just got back at the office, and it’s back to work bitches. I really had fun with our company Singles’ brunch. Though technically, Nica’s no longer single hihihi. Don’t ask me, ask her :P

Love is in the air. Pull the joker card.

Hey everyone! Watch out for my new blog — blog.jonverdavid.com! See you there soon!

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Runway

Yesterday, I was fashion show-hopping in the interwebz and basking myself to the latest in menswear on the Paris and Milan runways. One particular runway really caught my attention, and that’s because models didn’t walk it. Couldn’t call it a runway either. Instead, designer Jean Paul Gaultier had the models strip and revealed his clothes piece by piece. It’s a new method of presenting clothes, the deconstruction way. (at least I still hadn’t done research if this has been done before) It’s sensual, but not too skanky. It’s not an underwear show (much to the disappointment of some others, heh) but it made me feel  like watching a Victoria’s Secret show without the skin.

PLUS, the pieces are good, but you will have to wait for my Paris/Milan menswear review for that :)

Keep tuned in!

Wear Pinoy!

20130115-024618.jpg

We at altMNL don’t believe in boring fashion statements. Most importantly, we don’t believe that you need to look outside Manila to get the latest in fashion. Here are 10 all-Pinoy brands which can up your ante.

Strut pieces from these brands and let’s show the world how Pinoy fashion is forward!

Read more after the jump!

And this is maybe my proudest article for altMNL so far. Featuring some of my favorite Pinoy brands… It really puts a smile in my face doing this article for them and the whole Pinoy fashion and design industry.

Always remember: wear your own,
J

Current mood: William Fitzsimmons

And there are, and will be, moments in life that we will have to say, no matter how we don’t want to, these words by Mr. Fitzsimmons (hey I like how his surname sound). I won’t go there though. I guess a couple of blog posts about him is enough. I was hurt, but it’s not that I am not ready for a no. What hurt is how his message came to me. I think nobody deserves that, and for that… I think, this is goodbye… even though I don’t want to.

I think I gave him way too much credit. But hurting me that way proved to me that I’m better off just friends with you… if he talks to me ever again, that is. For now, this is goodbye.

And I cry myself to sleep
And you thought I was happy
I was lonely
Had nowhere to go

Per as it was

And just like in a movie, time stopped when we talked. And when the bomb was dropped, everything resumed per as it was.

Except for me. I was once again infiltrated by the shrapnels I can never avoid, I can never miss. I wish though time would stop for me even without you as a medium. To lend me some time to recuperate a bit.

So that I, too, can be per as it was.

Now this was months ago when I was invited by my friends from GMA Artist Center and Media Contacts PH to essentially watch a twinky heartthrob do crunches in front of me at Gold’s Gym Tomas Morato. Timely enough, I’ve been planning to go to the gym myself to get healthy (yeah, right!) and learning how fast Alden Richards shaped up for the Cosmopolitan Magazine Bachelor Bash (which I ultimately missed btw) really helped me decide to go to the gym even more determined than ever.

So now, yeah ogle at the hunky cuteness that is Alden Richards, hehe

Adorkable and Nerdelicious

Recently, Apple released they’re new Apple Genius TVC… and apparently a new Apple guy… which we can’t name for now. WHO THE HELL IS THAT GUY ANYWAY?! So damn cute, hihi

Ever since Tim Cook stepped into the scene critics and Apple fans cannot help but to compare him to the demigod that is Steve Jobs. I so do not want to be in Cook’s shoes now, because damn well I am putting my butt in a hot seat if I do…

My point is, and others’ too I think, is that Apple is reviving they’re personal marketing techniques rather than investing in a matter-of-factly product-centric ads. This is good, since Apple’s hardware will always be superior (at least for me) and now that they’re on top of their game there, why not invest in a whole new different dimension – personalize the brand and make it more relatable?

Or maybe, it’s just not the way it use to be? Apple snobs may care no less as long as they get their tech gears how they want it to be. I do not know, but marketing-wise I think it’s best that they cover all bases just so as to reach every possible market. This way they can educate the people more about their product and more about their customer relationship-building personality.

What do you think of this new ad? Let me know, I’d like to hear your opinion :)

P.S. It’s fine to comment on the cute Apple guy… hihi

Uh-mazing Spider-man swung and got my heart

Well, actually, Andrew Garfield did! ❤

I even changed my Twitter surname. Yes, in my perfect world, I married him.

Serious talk though, there are absolute three blasphemous things to say about this film, and these are:

  • Is that Mary Jane? (I CANNOT.),
  • OMG why is she blond? (srlsy do research sometimes),
  • I don’t get it, why did Emma (can’t even remember it’s GWEN!) smile in the end? (WE. DIED.)

Mind you, we heard those from people IN the cinema. Egad, the shock in our faces cannot be concealed by the longest face ever.

I will not even pretend that I am a big superhero slash comic book junkie. I am serious when I told people I am watching this because mi husbando Andy is playing the abso-fucking-lutely amazing Spidey boy (lol, is this blasphemous too?) BUT didn’t the trailers make it pretty obvious this isn’t the same Spidey? I think that’s the point of filming it the second time around, ’cause they have something new? And it really doesn’t hurt to do some research, really. Befriend the internet, puh-lease. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT WE HEARD WAS REAL. Seriously, izzo stupid.

Nonetheless, I’ve seen it twice, and I really recommend you go to the nearest cinema if you haven’t. I mean, aside from the adorkable killer smile and piercing glances from my boy Andrew, he shared good chemistry with Emma Stone – who btw I absolutely forgive already having an affair with him while shooting. HAHA!

I just think that, as with some movies I’ve seen lately, there are lapses in transition, which really doesn’t help to communicate the emotion. It’s especially observed when Uncle Ben was shot and they didn’t even transitioned Peter’s change of mood smoothly. Other than that, I think it’s an uh-mazing movie. Putting amazing in the title was appropriate.

So I think that’s all. I really am tired from this day, though I hardly done anything because it was raining so hard. So…

Andy, come let’s sleep hihi :)

Noel Crisostomo

DSC_1281

Noel Crisostomo being put in the third and last slot was refreshing. His style varied immensely from the first two designers, but that doesn’t mean he’s lesser talented. Clean cuts and boxy geometric silhouettes are his strength in this collection. Also, attention to detail – be sure to catch the snakeskin lining in some of his pieces.
