(Spring)-Summer is here!

Well, technically we don’t have Spring in the Philippines. Hence, the parentheses. OC much? Haha!

Anyway. Remember that article, I wrote for altMNL? I’m really glad that two of my favorite indie brands released mats already for their upcoming SS collections. Check them out here —

Salad Day’s back with more candy colors and putting some game to your outfit! Check out the Lisa Punk collection! You can feel the summer in these pieces – with all the color, and not to mention, it really looks comfy to sport. I really like the shorts with the inverted pockets! Thinking to buy…………..

Proud Race is so proud of their dark nature. It’s so dark, it brings light to fashion today! Drawing from the 90’s that inspired them from the very beginning, 1990 Nile is here to put some nine-o-remix to your SS choices. Doesn’t mean it’s summer, you can’t wear black! I particularly liked the symbology print and of course the maxi in everything!

Annnnnnd, these videos are crafted by none other than Judd Figuerres! Really love his work in these brands!

Just a quick post to acknowledge that summer is indeed here… and comes with it is my birth month! Quite excited on the start of my xxth year. Not revealing, hehe! AND IT’S ALREADY HOT OUTSIDE CONSIDERING IT ‘S JUST FEBRUARY. Weather is cray.

Anyway. Among the other things I am starting new with is a new platform for my blabs… Hope yer not too tired yet to hear out what I have to say. Watch out for my new blog —! See you there soon!

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Runway

Yesterday, I was fashion show-hopping in the interwebz and basking myself to the latest in menswear on the Paris and Milan runways. One particular runway really caught my attention, and that’s because models didn’t walk it. Couldn’t call it a runway either. Instead, designer Jean Paul Gaultier had the models strip and revealed his clothes piece by piece. It’s a new method of presenting clothes, the deconstruction way. (at least I still hadn’t done research if this has been done before) It’s sensual, but not too skanky. It’s not an underwear show (much to the disappointment of some others, heh) but it made me feel  like watching a Victoria’s Secret show without the skin.

PLUS, the pieces are good, but you will have to wait for my Paris/Milan menswear review for that :)

Keep tuned in!

Wear Pinoy!

We at altMNL don’t believe in boring fashion statements. Most importantly, we don’t believe that you need to look outside Manila to get the latest in fashion. Here are 10 all-Pinoy brands which can up your ante.

Strut pieces from these brands and let’s show the world how Pinoy fashion is forward!

Read more after the jump!

And this is maybe my proudest article for altMNL so far. Featuring some of my favorite Pinoy brands… It really puts a smile in my face doing this article for them and the whole Pinoy fashion and design industry.

Always remember: wear your own,

The Ultimate Punchdrunk Panda Blogger Hangout!

This will be the fourth blogger hangout that I will be with Punchdrunk Panda, and I am just so happy they keep on inviting me (hehe!) And this time around, it’s the biggest one there is in the history of funkifying the world with quirky cool stuff!

It was held at the new Pino – Pipino restaurant and bar at Jupiter street in Makati. Hands down for this group for always making the best grub in town! The last time in Pipino at Malingap street in Teacher’s Village was amazing. And so is this one. ONE PROOF: I have no photos of the food (hehe and sorry!)  because each time the food comes in, it magically finds it way to our mouths. TRUE STORY. This is why we are not dedicated food bloggers, haha!

Anyway, on its fourth wave of blogger hangouts already, Punchdrunk Panda (also, PdP) introduced its new batch of skimmers and camera straps! If you’re still not familiar with PdP, you’re in for some quirky and cool fun!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:47 PMManix Abrera

Light Years

First up, Manix Abrera (of the Kikomachine Komix fame!) designed a pair of guys’ skimmers, and camera straps (another favorite from PdP!) I really like how it became an extension of his work from the graphic novel world and a fan would instantly buy it. After the whole hangout, everyone was busy buying their own Shutterbug camera straps and had it signed by Manix himself!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:49 PMDiego Mapa

Intergalactic Duet with Dan Matutina

Diego Mapa of two-man band Tarsius, one of our artists from Anteroom Sessions 1 and 2, together with graphic designer Dan Matutina, designed this galactic pair of skimmers. What’s unique with this pair is that with its postcard (each product comes with a postcard with a message from the artist) is a QR code of Diego Mapa’s original soundtrack for Graphika Manila! It’s an intense intergalactic medley of art!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:52 PMNemo Aguila

Nemo Aguila‘s character designs are to die for! It kinda reminds me of some PdP products with monsters – yepp, you’re right Rob Cham’s Monsters – but now in a different dimension and apparently adaptation of Nemo’s name! Cool work, bruh!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:53 PMJen “Master Panda” Horn

Stamp Collector

Jen Horn‘s love for travel have successfully transcended into her designs and et voila, the Stamp Collector is a mirage of travel visa stamps! It’s my frustration to travel more frequently, and buying this maybe will psyche its way into my life. I don’t know but you, but isn’t that how the law of attraction works?

Nov 7, 2012, 3:59 PMAlessandra Lanot

Eat Your Vegetables

Alessandra Lanot, or fondly Alessa of Pipino, is a vegan. YES, folks, a real one! I didn’t think vegans exist too, until I met her! I have nothing against vegetables, in fact I love them, but you cannot deprive me of my meat (sorry, Alessa!) So Alessa’s work is demanding you to eat your vegetables instead! Haha mai-connect lang, labo! Featured in this artwork is NOT only Alessa’s love for vegetables, but also her watercolor skills that kill! You didn’t even notice it’s watercolor, yes?

Some of the artists from this collection were not able to join us, so here are their works of funkifying art!

Splash by Lady Krystle Tanmantiong & Anna Oposa

Save the Philippine Seas-inspired, definitely! This artwork definitely shows us how beautiful the sea is even in a small canvas like a shoe. Wear it and be a proud planeteer!

Bob-eye the Referee by Apol Sta. Maria

Another playful artwork in a pair of skimmers? It’s just so PdP I love it! I love how collaborations show the different facets of a brand through different artists as well!

Geoglyphs by Nathania Gail Go

We’d love to see Gail here, but she’s funkifying the other end of the world. But yay for her work which I think means “art on stone.” It’s a naturally occurring formation on rocks! Cool new information, huh? And oh, love the contrasting colors!

I love blogger hangouts! It’s simple and intimate and ultimately I get to know the brand and other bloggers as well. It’s fun to see familiar faces too from our previous blogger hangouts :)

Got a chance to meet American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez last September, thanks to Bench who got the young Filipina onboard as one of its Global Benchsetters along with pop singer Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, and K-pop sensation Super Junior’s Siwon and Dong Hae.

It was stunnimg to see Jessica, especially a lot of Filipinos were big fans of her during while she was competing for the AI title. Add to that, that she is really so young and already making waves im the industry. It’s just a wow to meet her!

Cotton On! Game On!

Sep 6, 2012, 5:12 PM

Australian famous clothing brand Cotton On is now here in the Philippines! It first opened in Lucky Chinatown mall, which it was actually one of the first boutiques to open in the high end mall in the middle of Binondo, Manila. Now, it has two other branches – Mall of Asia and Megamall, both of which are fully stocked, ready for y’all shopaholics!!!

Sep 6, 2012, 5:15 PM

I like that they adapted the COTTON ON CLASS OF 2012 slant just so because the clothes at Cotton On really reminds me of college days. Spite me if you want and if you know that we wear uniform back in college, but you should know that I always make it a point to bring casual clothes everyday. That’s also why I love a good ol’ big bag :)

Sep 6, 2012, 5:25 PM

THE COTTON ON MOA BRANCH WAS SO PACKED. Good job, I guess, but I couldn’t even figure out how some managed to shop! I made a point though to visit some other time.

Sep 6, 2012, 5:46 PM

Sep 6, 2012, 5:46 PM

Basics are everywhere! What is really notable about Cotton On is the fabric they use. It’s really comfy you can sleep on them. This rack is for the women.

Sep 6, 2012, 6:20 PM

And these sandos!!! Thanks to the slimming gods a.k.a. STRESS, I am finally losing weight. Hahaha only means one thing. Time to hoard these babies!

Sep 6, 2012, 8:11 PM

I also like that their chinos fit me well. You know for a guy whose hips never lie, I can never shop for pants normally. I only have brands that really fit me well… And well, custom-made ones. Thank heavens for Cotton On!

Sep 6, 2012, 5:35 PM

And look who we have here. Hehe, isn’t he cute?? Spotted at the Cotton On opening: Joseph Marco. He’s cuter in person.

Sep 6, 2012, 6:10 PM
Tomato Green chambray shirt, mustard sneakers, Hang Ten shorts, Wrangler denim tote bag

And this is what I wore to the opening show and sale, pretty much like how they did the styling too. I kinda felt I was part of the production, chosssss

Sep 25, 2012, 5:29 PM

And oh, just yesterday, I checked out Megamall branch and glad to see the sando I’ve been meaning to buy… And yes, I bought it, haha! Do I look straight enough in this outfit?? /lolhellno #grindrprofilephoto

On Jonver: Bench collared tee, Penshoppe leatherette pants, , Thrifted blazer and boots, Hang Ten wayfarers

On Pax: Wardrobe check top, Binkydoodles blazer, VNC heels

Think we could pull off a couple blog? HAHA!

Bench goes Korean cray cray!

WHOA. A moment there. Backlog alert. This was weeks ago, and if I say weeks, it’s been almost a month. I really should find time to write here, and…

…a disclaimer: I know… you’re new to the KPOP thing here in my blog. BUT try working at our office, they’re gonna make you appreciate it! Haha. AND THE FOLLOWING PICTURES WILL HAVE YOU SQUIRMING. And hope they speak fluent English.

Now to the juicy fun part. Introducing Super Junior’s Siwon and Donghae for fashion mogul Bench…

So here’s Siwon. He’s the action-star-more-tough-looking of the two. I actually find him just okay (wow lang, feeling ganda lang) but undoubtedly he’s more sculpted than his Bench co-endorser. SEARCH. HIS. PHOTOS… only if you don’t believe me. Now onto the Korean apple of my eyes —

I honestly swore that I won’t scream like a jej fangirl, but scream I did. Not like a jej one tho… Like a dying sorta wailing girl. WHO WON’T?! Donghae reminds me of this one crush who mare-zoned me. Haha!

Donghae’s even cuter up close. Actually, they could be a couple. My friend from Singapore actually told me that it’s a popular fan-tasy. HAHA! Don’t get me started!!!

Hope I still find time to upload some photos from my camera (I know some of you are sick of the press release photos, sarreh. My lazy ass begs for your apology.)

P.S. Don’t we all hope they walk the runway for Bench’s underwear fashion show this SEPTEMBER. Imma die. Imma die a happy death, hihi
