It is something to want to change something. It is something else to act upon it. I believe everyone of us wants to change the world in a way or another – whether it be the government, the environment, the roads, or even simply how people eat or fall in love (maisingit lang!)

Tattoo by Globe Telecom acknowledges this desire to effect change in any way. With Cat@lyst, their CSR arm, along with Global Shapers, introduces ICT Youth Challenge – to give you this chance of a lifetime… Continue reading

Gamechangers

20130115-023709.jpg

And this will be hard to choke out not going… I’d want to discuss here why but maybe later. Still not in the mood hihi. Anyway.

Listen to three of today’s movers in social media and Philippine society. Maria Ressa, Yves Gonzales, and my very own former boss and friend Ros Juan will be speaking about their work in social good! It really pains me not being able to go…

So to know more about this, head on over a http://www.gamechangers.infinite.ly or contact Arriane Serafico @arriane_… and book that date, Jan. 26, already. Highly recommended!!

Run for your lives! Or not.

There’s roughly more than a week left before the Mayans’ prediction of doomsday. Are you scared? Or do you find it funny? Whether it’s true or not, if we can’t do anything about it then here are 12 things you can do to end 2012… Or the world, whichever comes first.

More of this after the jump!

***

I know, those are 12 things you can do before the world ends, and it kinda ends in two days. HAHA! So yeah, to not miss out on our new blog, subscribe, subscribe! Anyway, please read my article and find some cool stuff to do before the world reels back to Year 0. Happy End of the World, everyone!

Muni Garage Sale at Moonleaf Maginhawa!

20121207-051353.jpg

Tomorrow, the Nomad Manager along with some other brands will have a garage sale at Moonleaf Maginhawa under the Muni PH which aims to build a community of cultural creatives to influence healthy, responsible living to its full potential. I’d rather tell you to read their blog to know more about them.

And please go to their garage sale! Punchdrunk Panda, Vesti, Lagu, Jacinto and Lirio, and Caleb’s Closet will be there as well!

I’ll see you there, yes?

The Ultimate Punchdrunk Panda Blogger Hangout!

This will be the fourth blogger hangout that I will be with Punchdrunk Panda, and I am just so happy they keep on inviting me (hehe!) And this time around, it’s the biggest one there is in the history of funkifying the world with quirky cool stuff!

It was held at the new Pino – Pipino restaurant and bar at Jupiter street in Makati. Hands down for this group for always making the best grub in town! The last time in Pipino at Malingap street in Teacher’s Village was amazing. And so is this one. ONE PROOF: I have no photos of the food (hehe and sorry!)  because each time the food comes in, it magically finds it way to our mouths. TRUE STORY. This is why we are not dedicated food bloggers, haha!

Anyway, on its fourth wave of blogger hangouts already, Punchdrunk Panda (also, PdP) introduced its new batch of skimmers and camera straps! If you’re still not familiar with PdP, you’re in for some quirky and cool fun!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:47 PMManix Abrera

Light Years

Shutterbug

First up, Manix Abrera (of the Kikomachine Komix fame!) designed a pair of guys’ skimmers, and camera straps (another favorite from PdP!) I really like how it became an extension of his work from the graphic novel world and a fan would instantly buy it. After the whole hangout, everyone was busy buying their own Shutterbug camera straps and had it signed by Manix himself!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:49 PMDiego Mapa

Intergalactic Duet with Dan Matutina

Diego Mapa of two-man band Tarsius, one of our artists from Anteroom Sessions 1 and 2, together with graphic designer Dan Matutina, designed this galactic pair of skimmers. What’s unique with this pair is that with its postcard (each product comes with a postcard with a message from the artist) is a QR code of Diego Mapa’s original soundtrack for Graphika Manila! It’s an intense intergalactic medley of art!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:52 PMNemo Aguila

Nemonita

Nemonito

Nemo Aguila‘s character designs are to die for! It kinda reminds me of some PdP products with monsters – yepp, you’re right Rob Cham’s Monsters – but now in a different dimension and apparently adaptation of Nemo’s name! Cool work, bruh!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:53 PMJen “Master Panda” Horn

Stamp Collector

Jen Horn‘s love for travel have successfully transcended into her designs and et voila, the Stamp Collector is a mirage of travel visa stamps! It’s my frustration to travel more frequently, and buying this maybe will psyche its way into my life. I don’t know but you, but isn’t that how the law of attraction works?

Nov 7, 2012, 3:59 PMAlessandra Lanot

Eat Your Vegetables

Alessandra Lanot, or fondly Alessa of Pipino, is a vegan. YES, folks, a real one! I didn’t think vegans exist too, until I met her! I have nothing against vegetables, in fact I love them, but you cannot deprive me of my meat (sorry, Alessa!) So Alessa’s work is demanding you to eat your vegetables instead! Haha mai-connect lang, labo! Featured in this artwork is NOT only Alessa’s love for vegetables, but also her watercolor skills that kill! You didn’t even notice it’s watercolor, yes?

Nov 7, 2012, 4:08 PM

Some of the artists from this collection were not able to join us, so here are their works of funkifying art!

Splash by Lady Krystle Tanmantiong & Anna Oposa

Save the Philippine Seas-inspired, definitely! This artwork definitely shows us how beautiful the sea is even in a small canvas like a shoe. Wear it and be a proud planeteer!

Bob-eye the Referee by Apol Sta. Maria

Another playful artwork in a pair of skimmers? It’s just so PdP I love it! I love how collaborations show the different facets of a brand through different artists as well!

Geoglyphs by Nathania Gail Go

We’d love to see Gail here, but she’s funkifying the other end of the world. But yay for her work which I think means “art on stone.” It’s a naturally occurring formation on rocks! Cool new information, huh? And oh, love the contrasting colors!

I love blogger hangouts! It’s simple and intimate and ultimately I get to know the brand and other bloggers as well. It’s fun to see familiar faces too from our previous blogger hangouts :)

Pino’s signature wall art is very tempting for camwhoring. Or we’re just camwhores I think. Say hi to Margarita Queen Tin Rementilla with me on the photo! Di po kami nag-usap sa outfit haha

Where the boys at? Near me. Hehe. Say hi to Paul the PR Guy and Seph Cham of Love Chic.

Look how big the PdP family already is *tears!* Really thankful to be part of this team and group of bloggers! Much love from moi!

The Pandas Nica, Jen, and Pauline with honorary Panda Alessa!

Also, let’s congratulate Pino for being part of Juice.ph’s Juice 50: The Ultimate List of Things to Do, Eat, Drink, Buy and Try In and Out of the Metro! You deserve it guys!

Moonleaf presents: UAAP Cheerdance Competition

It’s yet another season of UAAP, and for those who care less about basketball (sorry, junkies) there’s the Cheerdance Competition. Probably, if not the second, the most anticipated event in UAAP. And I’m not kidding. From where I graduated, I heard, the pep squad is the most pampered and most spent on team!

Sep 20, 2012, 6:50 PM

And we at Moonleaf were more than happy to host a CDC screening. Now on its second year to host, we always love seeing school spirit!

Sep 22, 2012, 2:35 PM

Our friends, Travis and Cai among many others, came to watch (and cheer their lungs out) with us! Can you tell who they were rooting for from their outfit?

There’s plenty of goofing around, too. Not captured in photos, though! Everybody was loopy and happy not until the announcement of winners. When the champion was announced, which was UP for the 8th time now, EVERYBODY, and I mean everybody, like the shop was like quaking in full joy! This is Maginhawa branch we are talking about! Balwarte levels!

Sep 23, 2012, 3:57 AM

And after hosting the event, we were all hungry and shit so… Mercato ensued. I had isaw, Laoag empanada, and the most heavenly aligue-laden three-cheese Risotto balls. I. HAZ. TO. GO. BACK. FOR. THAT.

One Bookworm-y Saturday

DSC_0395

It’s been almost two weeks since we held the very first Bookworm Brigade bookswap + bookdrive at Moonleaf Maginhawam, and I am still overwhelmed of what we were able to do – gather books and book lovers and share it with each other. I’m glad that a lot were commending what we did but little did they know that it just really began with a tweet.

DSC_0396

DSC_0397

DSC_0399

The untold story was Cariza, Jonard and I were just tweeting, actually ranting, how we are out of books and cash and how we want to read more books. We initially thought of swapping books. But then we thought we could bring some more friends over, until the event page was made. Long story cut short, the event grew bigger and next time we know we’re  facing piles and piles of books at Moonleaf Maginhawa. STILL. OVERWHELMING. FOR. ME.

DSC_0441Team DGNTY dropped some books as well. Thanksies girls!

DSC_0446

I really promise, we’ll do it longer next time! A lot were tweeting that they weren’t able to drop by because we packed up just before 5pm! It’s because some of us were heading to Makati to Mashable Social Media Day! I really make it a point to head over there to show my support to my friends who organized it.

When will be the next Bookworm Brigade? I really don’t know. Honestly, if it were up to me, I’d have it monthly. But let’s see where this will lead us. I’m just really glad that people appreciated what we did, and I really think my team deserves pats-on-the-back… and a SPIDER-MAN MOVIE!

Cariza, Jonard, if you’re reading this. Thank you and see you on Saturday for that movie date! Teehee!

PANTY MONSTERS x GAY PRIDE

And I shall leave you to this song, ’cause frankly, this is what makes us girls… Happy Gay Pride everyday!!!

DSC_0392

We have to give it to Globe for having the best nights ever! That night when they awarded the raddest rockstar of the Philippine online world (where basically all of us are citizens) all the raddest netizens (syempre kame din, rad chos!) came and lauded these personalities which made an impact on their chosen fields of influences. I am so honored that I have been invited to witness this [online] historical moment, though admittedly some of the winners are not my bets. BUT HEY! Congrats to them. Maybe next your me and you can be the next American Idol! Ay mali, I mean… The raddest of them all!
