I just came back from Singapore! And I have so much to tell you. I’ve been to Laneway Festival, temples left and right, and gad, the food — THE FOOD! I don’t know where to start, lah!
However, I am still organizing my thoughts and resting for work tomorrow. PLUS, I am still in my state of ecstasy and I am controlling myself not to book another flight anywhere. AH, TRAVEL. I have to save though – especially for my new blog this month…
Stay tuned in for my Singapore series!
Yesterday, I was fashion show-hopping in the interwebz and basking myself to the latest in menswear on the Paris and Milan runways. One particular runway really caught my attention, and that’s because models didn’t walk it. Couldn’t call it a runway either. Instead, designer Jean Paul Gaultier had the models strip and revealed his clothes piece by piece. It’s a new method of presenting clothes, the deconstruction way. (at least I still hadn’t done research if this has been done before) It’s sensual, but not too skanky. It’s not an underwear show (much to the disappointment of some others, heh) but it made me feel like watching a Victoria’s Secret show without the skin.
PLUS, the pieces are good, but you will have to wait for my Paris/Milan menswear review for that :)
Keep tuned in!
After two years (oh how I miss MTV Asia!) I’ll be back in Singapore, now for St. Jerome’s Laneway festival to be held at the new The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Now, I’ll have more time to go around to experience the famed lion city. I really cannot hide my excitement!!! OF MONSTERS AND MEN is playing among other amazing bands. I’m also excited for Kings of Convenience, Gotye, Kimbra, Bat for Lashes, ALT-J, and Polica! And that’s just the cherry on top! There’s a total of 14 bands playing (others are Tame Impala, Yeasayer, Real Estate, Nicolas Jaar, Japandroids, Cloud Nothings, and Divine Fits) Hope I win the Meet and Greet too! Teehee!
I’ll be live tweeting at the event… and mostly for my stay in Singapore. Thanks to Globe’s BridgeUnlimited unlimited surfing, it’s more affordable AND just easy to register but just the same reliable service we get while roaming. So if you wanna keep tabs on what’s happening during Laneway, feel free to follow @Jonver_David!
PLUS… I’m planning a blog reboot. Whew! I’ve been scared to tell here, because it’d be so much pressure, but now I’m really sure! Keep tuned in for developments and I hope you’re still ready to follow my blog in its soon-to-be new home.

We at altMNL don’t believe in boring fashion statements. Most importantly, we don’t believe that you need to look outside Manila to get the latest in fashion. Here are 10 all-Pinoy brands which can up your ante.
Strut pieces from these brands and let’s show the world how Pinoy fashion is forward!
Read more after the jump!
And this is maybe my proudest article for altMNL so far. Featuring some of my favorite Pinoy brands… It really puts a smile in my face doing this article for them and the whole Pinoy fashion and design industry.
Always remember: wear your own,
Yesterday, I got to meet some of my classmates x dutymates x most probable group in any class class activity. Way back college, I swore I never imagined I’d ever see them again, and it was nice to hear their stories post-mortem, ehrm college (!) Dee just got back from Australia, and her sister Zoe is graduating this year. EC, who’s really not our groupmate but is a welcome addition to the pack to eat two humongous pans of pizza, is taking up Medicine with some other batchmates. Joanne and Johnel are pretty much taking the high road of their nursing career… And well me, still trying to deny that I am a nurse (hehe) but will review this year for US boards.
It’s fun to hear their stories from different perspectives. And I guess, life is just starting for us. Some are overwhelmed with the rigors of daily adult life. And some are just swinging by. Some are still students in the medical field, while some decided to take the course called life. Whatever paths we may be treading now, it’s apparent that adult life is not easy, but is fun and challenging.
I really hope we can do this every now and then guys, I really miss you all.
P.S. 110, kung nababasa nyo ‘to magpakita naman kayo minsan hahaha!
And there I am in the middle of darkness. My eyes hurt in trying to find anything; aimlessly reaching, feeling, almost hallucinating for an evidence of matter. This can be two things, I say. Darkness. Or a death of sight.
Not too faraway, a fuzzy, warm, pinhole streak of light glimmers. I reaffirm my vision. But I wonder where I am. In the middle of a moonless, starless wasteland? In the crumbly edge of a towering cliff? Nevertheless, my pupils, then apprehensively dilated like that of the feline kind, partially constrict at the presence of the now apparent engulfing light. At last, enlightenment; an escape from all this confusion. I can see where I am.
I am standing weakly in the middle of the district. Around are people I see yapping, caught up with the daily rigors of existing; every soul as usual. It leaves me oblivious: it seems that they have not seen the darkness. A thought. What irony to see darkness? Eyes open only to catch the absolute absence of light, tries to grasp the blank and null – in a perpetually peripheral perspective. Everything and nothing is around. In three sixty.
Then suddenly, after ten whole minutes of taking joy at the glorious gift of sight, blotches of darkness start to eat it all up. I panic. Every minute element of my tired being panics. I try to rush; to etch, in an incorrigible slate, each image the darkness is starting to gobble. It is frustrating to see everything slowly dissolve into a unit of none. Now, it is coming after me, and I resist inwardly to be back in the black hole it is slowly being.
And it goes back to pinhole. I keep chasing desperately, hovering tiredly after; running out of breath, like it is consuming the oxygen, or my lungs just could not keep up. Then pitch black. A bomb of velvet black. Shrapnels of biting nothingness. Utter. Complete. Painful darkness.
I am back where I began.
In this darkness I see everything and nothing.
It’s quite refreshing and coincidental that I just read this post JUST NOW. Y’all know the shit going through my blog – how I have not been writing and taking photos so often as the last six months. And reading this just drives me to blog how I used to. It’s a complex of emotions right now that I don’t wanna divulge here. So yeah.
Anyway Thanks Kris, for the message. Hola to my Spanish readers, too. And to all who still read my blog. Please know that you guys are loved by this blogger. Kris, I hope you don’t mind I posted our conversation here. It really makes me feel good, especially now.
