The Ultimate Punchdrunk Panda Blogger Hangout!

This will be the fourth blogger hangout that I will be with Punchdrunk Panda, and I am just so happy they keep on inviting me (hehe!) And this time around, it’s the biggest one there is in the history of funkifying the world with quirky cool stuff!

It was held at the new Pino – Pipino restaurant and bar at Jupiter street in Makati. Hands down for this group for always making the best grub in town! The last time in Pipino at Malingap street in Teacher’s Village was amazing. And so is this one. ONE PROOF: I have no photos of the food (hehe and sorry!)  because each time the food comes in, it magically finds it way to our mouths. TRUE STORY. This is why we are not dedicated food bloggers, haha!

Anyway, on its fourth wave of blogger hangouts already, Punchdrunk Panda (also, PdP) introduced its new batch of skimmers and camera straps! If you’re still not familiar with PdP, you’re in for some quirky and cool fun!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:47 PMManix Abrera

Light Years

Shutterbug

First up, Manix Abrera (of the Kikomachine Komix fame!) designed a pair of guys’ skimmers, and camera straps (another favorite from PdP!) I really like how it became an extension of his work from the graphic novel world and a fan would instantly buy it. After the whole hangout, everyone was busy buying their own Shutterbug camera straps and had it signed by Manix himself!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:49 PMDiego Mapa

Intergalactic Duet with Dan Matutina

Diego Mapa of two-man band Tarsius, one of our artists from Anteroom Sessions 1 and 2, together with graphic designer Dan Matutina, designed this galactic pair of skimmers. What’s unique with this pair is that with its postcard (each product comes with a postcard with a message from the artist) is a QR code of Diego Mapa’s original soundtrack for Graphika Manila! It’s an intense intergalactic medley of art!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:52 PMNemo Aguila

Nemonita

Nemonito

Nemo Aguila‘s character designs are to die for! It kinda reminds me of some PdP products with monsters – yepp, you’re right Rob Cham’s Monsters – but now in a different dimension and apparently adaptation of Nemo’s name! Cool work, bruh!

Nov 7, 2012, 3:53 PMJen “Master Panda” Horn

Stamp Collector

Jen Horn‘s love for travel have successfully transcended into her designs and et voila, the Stamp Collector is a mirage of travel visa stamps! It’s my frustration to travel more frequently, and buying this maybe will psyche its way into my life. I don’t know but you, but isn’t that how the law of attraction works?

Nov 7, 2012, 3:59 PMAlessandra Lanot

Eat Your Vegetables

Alessandra Lanot, or fondly Alessa of Pipino, is a vegan. YES, folks, a real one! I didn’t think vegans exist too, until I met her! I have nothing against vegetables, in fact I love them, but you cannot deprive me of my meat (sorry, Alessa!) So Alessa’s work is demanding you to eat your vegetables instead! Haha mai-connect lang, labo! Featured in this artwork is NOT only Alessa’s love for vegetables, but also her watercolor skills that kill! You didn’t even notice it’s watercolor, yes?

Nov 7, 2012, 4:08 PM

Some of the artists from this collection were not able to join us, so here are their works of funkifying art!

Splash by Lady Krystle Tanmantiong & Anna Oposa

Save the Philippine Seas-inspired, definitely! This artwork definitely shows us how beautiful the sea is even in a small canvas like a shoe. Wear it and be a proud planeteer!

Bob-eye the Referee by Apol Sta. Maria

Another playful artwork in a pair of skimmers? It’s just so PdP I love it! I love how collaborations show the different facets of a brand through different artists as well!

Geoglyphs by Nathania Gail Go

We’d love to see Gail here, but she’s funkifying the other end of the world. But yay for her work which I think means “art on stone.” It’s a naturally occurring formation on rocks! Cool new information, huh? And oh, love the contrasting colors!

***

I love blogger hangouts! It’s simple and intimate and ultimately I get to know the brand and other bloggers as well. It’s fun to see familiar faces too from our previous blogger hangouts :)

Isn’t it great? You get to ship your goods to a virtual US ADDRESS (so you can take advantage of free shipping perks on some stores) and ship it to Manila at a lessened cost. What’s even better to know is that you don’t need a credit card to shop online. Loving the way you pay, eh?

Boracay Long Weekend!

Oct 30, 2012, 6:07 AM

So I spent the long weekend last month (wow, it was one month already?!) I just came from La Union that weekend and one of the companies I work for, DGNTY, decided to go to Boracay with the whole team. It was crazy because I just came back to Manila that day to catch up with work and meetings, then the next time I knew I was on the plane to the best beach in the country world! Pardon the eyebags that I checked in along with my baggage. They’re heavy, ‘kay? :P

It was my first time to fly with Zest Air and my second time within the country. I have nothing much to compare it with. I just didn’t recall flights being delayed when you’re inside the cabin already, so when that happened, I was really bummed, bored, and worried. It was a seamless flight though. It wouldn’t be my first choice next time, but I was happy to arrive in Kalibo safe and sound.

Meet the gang! I was with the happiest people in the island! The whole team (L-R: Carlos, Julianna, Adrian, Thysz, Bobet, and Jan) was so ready to throw everything at the back of our heads and #RegretBoracay. It’s an #InsideJoke, don’t mind it :)

Nov 1, 2012, 1:08 PM

On our first three days, we stayed at Coco Huts at Station 1… AND. IT. WAS. JUST. THE. BEST! It looks like a cabin (uh, bear with me, my SD card just gave up on me, rest its memories *crey*) and we got the biggest room for a discount. Army Navy is conveniently situated downstairs, with some bars like the Sandbar is just a few sandy walks away. It’s also near Station 2 – to D’Mall and the island’s party scene! Everything is at your reach, so it’s just perfect! They have no wi-fi though, and for seven netizens and whose work relies heavily on the internet, we were kinda in for an involuntary internet sabbatical.

On connection issues, I wasn’t really on a sabbatical,’cause my phone’s on 3G all the way! Thanks to Globe who already strengthened the connectivity on the island with fiber optic technology. Now who said you can’t enjoy without unplugging yourself? Not anymore!

Nov 1, 2012, 4:18 PM

Oh say hi to the very sexy Thysz, my boss, btw hahaha! On our third day, we transferred to Boracay Pito (7) Huts which is a sister hotel company of the former place we stayed at. We needed to transfer because the other two days that we’ll be at Boracay was booked ahead of time at Coco Huts. Anyway, this one’s way further at Station 3, where the scene is much more serene, the party’s sober, and there’s plenty of relaxing to do. I particularly noted the Tree House in this part of the island where lodging and restaurant is propped on a tree! Cool idea and eyeing it actually for my next visit (soon!)

Oct 31, 2012, 6:58 PM

Now what to do in the island? It’s almost Halloween when we got there, so everyone’s crazy about costumes and parties! When I was spending some alone time at Jonah’s, where they serve the best fruit shakes in the island, I was thrilled to see kids and kids at heart in costumes and on the way to their respective parties. There’s a lot of bars to drink at Boracay – we went to Epic, Summer Place, and Juice Bar; each having their own crowds and yes, expensive drinks.

Nov 2, 2012, 11:00 PM

In this island was where I realize I can only tolerate three days of straight partying. On our third day, everyone was crazy for a post-Halloween party (didn’t even know such a thing exists!) I was on lolo mode when I decided to go home alone, grab a chocolate bar, and iPad myself to sleep. Trust me, there’s nothing but the ocean breeze (I kept the veranda doors open) and good ol’ sleep.

Nov 1, 2012, 4:25 PM

And of course, what else to do for this blogger; what with the ocean as a backdrop, and the breeze so cool against your skin? I was really inspired to write. And I guess, there’s one thing I’m forgetting to tell you about. Boracay may be a party hub, but give yourself even a fraction of a day to look into yourself and reflect. The beach is a such a good medium to introspect.

It’s best with beer, some cigs, and the vast ocean mirroring how equally vast the future is.

I’ll be back, Boracay.

P.S. Forgive the lack of pictures in this post, I know it’s a travel post, and you must be demanding some more photos to look at… There’s Google for now, haha! When my SD card magically defibrillated itself back to life, I’ll be back with more photos! Thanks for your patience, hihi :)

A zoo this cute must be kept by a cute zookeeper

Nah, disregard my title. My titles keeps on getting weirder and sometimes bordering on the naught, I know…

Nov 10, 2012, 2:41 AM

But, all I wanna zpazz about is this cute and simple game from the App Store! It was the featured app last week, and I really really am sorry for not sharing immediately when I saw it. Think it’s not free anymore, but there’s no harm in checking again, haha!

Nov 10, 2012, 2:40 AM

I can’t get over how CUTE this game is! Though it will most prolly remind you of the game Bejewelled, which if you don’t know where have you been hiding all these years, seriously?

And more cuteness! When the time is almost up, all the animals in the zoo wiggles (oh, I love seeing that!) but it’s so hard to screencap while playing so yeah, get it and see it for yourself, hehe…Nov 10, 2012, 3:00 AM

Who doesn’t have a knack for 8-bit graphic games here? This could be a great addition to your collection, along with Tiny Tower, Pocket Planes, and Sandbox!

MB, what?

Who’s a fan of Johnoy Danao here? Yes, he’s the composer-singer who toured the Moonleaf Tea Shop chain and who sang the jingle above. Listen to this beautifully composed song (which sticks to your ears, really) explaining how to use your internet efficiently and wisely!

Learn and enjoy, folks!

No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life

From the Human Rights Campaign Facebook page

So today (in some other countries) they remember those who have suffered and died because of discrimination of their chosen gender roles and preferences. It is sad, but what we could do now is to remember, learn, and apply what history could teach us.

Nobody should die because they chose who they really are and chose not to live a life of conformity. And may this day may serve its purpose – to open the eyes of the blinded and for us who are different from the rest of them, may it serve as an encouragement to be brave and face this life with dignity and pride.

Now this was months ago when I was invited by my friends from GMA Artist Center and Media Contacts PH to essentially watch a twinky heartthrob do crunches in front of me at Gold’s Gym Tomas Morato. Timely enough, I’ve been planning to go to the gym myself to get healthy (yeah, right!) and learning how fast Alden Richards shaped up for the Cosmopolitan Magazine Bachelor Bash (which I ultimately missed btw) really helped me decide to go to the gym even more determined than ever.

So now, yeah ogle at the hunky cuteness that is Alden Richards, hehe

Backlog Progress Report

Yepp, I’m in the middle of werq-related shit, and currently pulling an all-nighter (ah, well it’s morning already, so fuck eeeeeet) and neither the two us, here with my friend Vince, are finished. I’m tempted to tease you though with what I’ll be blogging in the next days (God, I need a free day) but I’d rather you guys be excited about it.

But, I’ll be starting a mini-travel series, some news about our generous brand friends, and a little big (labo, haha!) gossip in the local blogging industry.

So I hope you’re not bummed there (’cause I am with all the lack of sleep) and you keep tuned in to my little happy space.

Til free time decides to bug me,
J

Hello, I miss you

20121109-141740.jpg

It’s been more than one week since I posted here, and I’ve been itching to blog about a lot of things (especially, my long weekend at Boracay!) but I’ve been really busy and tired… and yes, lazy haha (huhu!) So I wish I really get the time to get back to all of you… I miss this place, my happy, infinite place ;(
