Bite me

I should be really sleeping by now. I have a long day ahead of me, and I still have to pack my stuff ’cause I’ll be away from home for work. PLUS I shall need all my energy for prepping for the ST. JAMES BAZAAR on Saturday, where Punchdrunk Panda is participating.

BUT! My adrenaline won’t go down. Forgive me as I spazz over at my new bag that came all the way from LONDON!!!

I still have no decent picture of it, but it is pretty much like it! It is an understatement to say that I love it!!! Here’s a photo from my BB though. Sorry, I can’t help it. Thank you to Bags of Love UK for sending me this personalized genuine leather holdall WITH a print of a photo I took last June! It’s just so lovely! I’ll blog more about this in the coming days (when my failed time management skills, a.k.a. my tortuous schedule actually had mercy on me!) But yeah, I can’t really believe I have this in my hands!!!

I know a lot still haven’t seen Breaking Dawn part 1. I won’t spoil, don’t worry. I urge you to watch it, it’s an interesting watch. My really meticulous friend, Pat actually LIKED it – so chances are I’m right. But hey shout out to that bitch who narrated every single scene to her friends – who apparently also sat right behind us. So what, your friends are like morons and they can’t comprehend without you telling them what’s happening? There’s a reason why it’s called a goddamn movie.

Pardon the rant. Anyhoo, I prolly won’t post a review until the end of this month. One thing’s for sure though – I stopped reading New Moon because it was really awful, and this movie just made me churn my gut to read the rest of the story I just left. It’s that good. Also, props to cinematography – gore is the way to go (YOU HAVE TO WATCH NA I’M SO ITCHING TO POST A REVIEW ALR!!!!)

So there. I’ll finish some work stuff before I actually have a shuteye. Gawd. It’s such a happy night.

And yeah, you most probably got the reason behind the title. Go figure it out, if you haven’t. Maybe that bitch I just told you about can help you :P

No light, no light by Florence + The Machine

Not my favorite from the Ceremonials album by Florence + The Machine, but it has a catchy beat. I just didn’t get why it’s kind of Amen Fashion-ish. Is it just me??

Anyway, I don’t hate it. I just like Florence more when she was doing Dog Days are Over. Or if she did Spectrum or What the Water Gave Me for the music video.

Bottomline: I still love Ceremonials. Let’s see for the following music videos ;)

Very stylish brand manager. I forgot to get his name though…

DSC_0348Some classy pop art cartoon prints. Look, it’s Minnie!

Experiences with shopping with girlfriends render one to be in touch with the feminine side (oh, believe me, I have no problem with that!) That’s why I know that shopping means a pilgrimage to brands like Mango. Mango has been in the radar of every stylish lady for quite a while – what with a plethora of comfortable yet quality and subtly stylish clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories. I’ve always thought why Mango doesn’t have a men’s line.

Kate Moss and Terry Richardson are perfect for this ad that circulated around 3o countries including Spain (where it all began), France, Germany, Turkey, UK, Greece, and Russia.

I really liked that bag in the video! Anyway, after a quick search, I came to know that apparently, the Spanish clothing brand has indeed a men’s line, HE by Mango, which has been around for quite a while. This really makes me think why isn’t Mango Philippines carrying this? I think if Topman and Zara Man has Manila branches, so should HE by Mango.

I hope though it doesn’t take a while before HE by Mango arrives in Manila. But for the meantime, I shall have some pieces shipped here straight from Spain. HAHAHAHAHA LOLJK!

IMMAP Open Mic Night

The Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) held the very first Open Mic Night at Craft bar in The Fort! It was a night of learning, inspiration, and a lot like overflowing Mexican fare and booze.

It was the first free Pecha Kucha session and people are so excited to hear from the speakers they had nominated in the IMMAP event wall in Facebook. The event was overflowing with spontaneity and a smorgasbord of what looks like edible inspiration.

DSC_0300

DSC_0301

DSC_0302

Speakers are required to prepare 20 slides to be delivered at 20 seconds each – for a total of 6:40 minutes. It was amazing how much thoughts can be put in just  a little over 6 minutes of sharing. I can’t write everything here but I’ll try to do these amazing speakers some justice!

DSC_0304Jayvee Fernandez. The people who are important are not into social media.

DSC_0305Jay Jaboneta. The new people power in social media is to help Filipinos.

DSC_0306Andre Yap. Tell me and I will forget it. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and [I] will be one of [you].

DSC_0307Chay Saputil. Develop or better yet change the game. It has to be memorable and it has to be remarkable.

DSC_0308Anna Oposa. What one may lack in expertise can be made up for by persistence!

DSC_0309A quick break and look who we’ve got here! Atty. Chris Lao!

DSC_0310Oh. Had he been informed about this ambush photo op? NOT! :P

DSC_0313

DSC_0314

DSC_0315Nasser Lubay. Your inspirations define your work. Stay inspired!

DSC_0316Coy Caballes. It’s all about the eye for viral. Content should evoke emotions. It is all about the people and [loving] your community.

DSC_0318Brian Tenorio. Seduction as a strategy in design helps you activate and target desire. (insert: I really really want to make a separate post about Tenorio’s talk. It’s so relevant!)

DSC_0319Patrick Cuartero. Compel in every touch point.

DSC_0320Ricky Baizas. If anything else fails, be your own CEO. Think Zuckerberg.

DSC_0321Carlo Ople. Do digital as you would your legacy!

DSC_0322Ernie Lopez. When you do the content, you feed your audience what they have no choice about.

DSC_0323Jim Paredes. Write stuff for us. Come as we are.

DSC_0324Third Domingo. Lunchtime is the new Primetime – everyone is stuck in only ONE medium.

DSC_0326Niccolo Cosme. (on AIDS awareness) If you’re doing nothing, then fuck you! (insert: I really (superlative!) enjoyed Niccolo’s talk so I really had forgotten to get his photo on stage. Good thing he’s just right beside me after his talk. Way to go, sister!)

***

I think what was clear from all the speakers that night was this – Passion is key to achieving whatever you want in life. You may be doing what you are ought to do, but what you ought to is not always what you what your heart tells you to do. Passion is key to a lock that holds you from reaching dreams. You have to find your passion. These people have and there should be nothing to stop you or me to find what we really want.

Thank you, IMMAP for coming up with this wonderful event. I was very inspired that day and God knows, I need a lot of it these days.

It was indeed hot that night! Pun intended or not, it was a steaming night of Tango and drinks alongside meeting friends for a perfect night cap at Nuvo. We were introduced to The Tango Fire  Company of Buenos Aires who are, most probably, the best Tango dancers I’ve seen in my life! It was splendid watching them with every flicker of their feet, and sway of their hips. It is indeed not only an erotic dance, but and for the most sensual. It soulfully speaks to your senses.

From the success of BLOGGERS UNITED 1 comes another bloggers gives back x meet and greet by the original team of Ana Gonzales, Melai Entuna and Aisa Ipac. They encourage camaraderie and sense of “community” among Manila’s (and eventually, the country’s) fashion blogging community through events and productions like this.

It was fun last BU and I cannot fathom it’s double the whammy now!!!

Say hello to some of my BBM-mates! Hi Eden :3

Part of the proceeds from this event will go to the GMA Kapuso Foundation for its school building project, a small but significant step to improve the Filipino youth’s access to education.

So if you’re up for some early and happy Christmas shopping with your favorite bloggers, head over at Treston College at University Parkway District, 32nd Street corner C-5 Road, Bonifacio Global City – just right in front of Market! Market! and where Junior Masterchef Philippines are shooting.

Raffles Design Institute – Manila

DSC_0208

First off, forgive me. Yes this is very last week pa. But am really swamped with work and some other issues along the side. What is good now is I’m so ready to share to you Raffles Design Institiute – Manila! I really do not want to give just a couple of minutes for this, but I want to be able to impart to you this humble institution with a glorious international boast-worthy history.

DSC_0202With Miko, Kaye, Erika, and Lawryeng

DSC_0203LARGE BRANDS up for internship. I just say WOW

DSC_0204

DSC_0205

I’d rather not bore you with the slide photos, would I? Raffles, as I fondly call it, is an international design institute offering world-recognized courses and degrees – Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Management, Interior Design, and Visual Communication. What really tickles my fancy is that after taking your subjects at this campus, you have an option to continue it ELSEWHERE in its other 37 colleges in 36 cities across 14 countries! Get all that WITH assistance from the management. Now how is that for a college education to look forward to!

DSC_0207

Well above is a slide of just SOME of their affiliates that you can get an internship at. I wish I had gotten an opportunity to intern at Swatch or Zara when I was in college (but yeah, I’m in nursing school, what was I thinking LOL!) But seriously, if I’d be given a chance to study again, then maybe I’d rethink my choices.

We had a quick tour of their floors at Accralaw building in The Fort, Global City. Picture above is their library. Get that – a library stockful of magazines! I wonder if they have Fantastic Man? :D

DSC_0214

DSC_0215

DSC_0217

The study lounge is a conducive space for the students to study. Think tank, it is! I’d kill for my college to have one of these for the nursing department. Damn!

DSC_0218

DSC_0219

Interior Design students would find this room suitable to their plate-making needs. Lotsa free space to spread long sheets of paper and other materials!

DSC_0220

DSC_0221

I like that the Fashion Marketing and Management rooms are very minimal. Tables + projector + mood board. Yes, marketers DO need mood boards! I second that!

DSC_0222

DSC_0223

In the middle of our tour, Interior Design lecturer Mr. Lee Miles showed up and talked with us for a little while. He has a fancy accent and a really interesting sense of fashion (PEG!) I love it when men wear blazers over their shirts. Faux hipster, a really classy one, if you ask me :P

DSC_0225Sewing room

DSC_0228They have a MAC ROOM! Yes, MAC, separate from a PC room. LOVE. Just pure love.

DSC_0229Some works by students at visual communication

DSC_0231I took this photo because I wanna learn how to draw. Eventually, I hope I will

I’d like to show the room for Visual Communication, but I guess all I need to say is to imagine a blank space. Very conducive for those students, I think, because they need their tabula rasa!

DSC_0233

Before the tour ended, Fashion Design Professor Dr. Janet Emmanuel came to have a little chat with us. She shared how she is amazed at how blogging has mobilized marketing through social media in the country. I agree, Ma’am! If it weren’t for blogging, I may not have a job now. LOL! But seriously! I am also flattered at how she acknowledged at how I managed blogging while I am a registered nurse. She’s such a sweet and happy person :D

Haha! Did you notice that I look a little pandak when I’m wearing a lot of dark colors? Taking a note on that! Anyhow, it was a lovely morning to spend at Raffles! I am really privileged to be invited to tour around it! I love it. Even the programs, they’re very organized and aligned to international standards. I hope more and more internationally competitive universities, colleges, and institutes come here and invest for the Filipinos and our education.

I even see myself being enrolled in Fashion Marketing and Management… Hmmmm, we will see. We WILL see about that :P

* We were really late (Erika and I) but we also attended the WGSN trend forecasting for Summer-Spring 2012. I found a lot of familiar and new takes on some aesthetics. I’m so excited for Summer! Are you? If you are, then visit WGSN and learn about 50’s revival, tribal artisan, acquatic, and an upcoming Olympic-inspired trend!

* Also, Raffles Education in other countries does  not only focus on design. There are a lot of courses available, and you may look at it here.

That day was pretty goddamn tiring. I never liked Divisoria in the first place. But heck it was sooooo productive! We got to accomplish a lot of things despite giving up a holiday and having to wake up the next day for work! I can say that my body may be complaining but my mind wants to do some more! Pretty impressive, when way back college, I seldom (LIKE REALLY SELDOM, TO THE POINT OF NOT EVEN BEING AN OPTION) become so productive, and now I’m almost drunk of being productive. Oh. That. Yes, pun intended folks :P

It’s pretty amazing working with these two so far, and I am proud to say that we are nurses. Registered Nurses, for that matter. I believe it doesn’t matter what education you have. All one has to do is to be open-minded about your options, your talents, and your passion. Yeah, a pretty nice shout out to all nurses out there!

If you’re gonna ask about the title, then the logo above may explain. StereoTyped is one of my latest collaborations, now with college buddies Hanna and Ella. I must admit, that I’ve been fancying around having a shirt collaboration for the longest time! Though I do not want to preempt the collection, I’m just gonna say that this one is pretty dope. Ella designed the whole PILOT collection inspired by music and typography! Can’t say more for now, but we’re looking forward to sharing it with all of you once it’s out!

Support StereoTyped and be free to wear the soundtrack of your life with our originally-designed, audio-inspired shirts! Like us in Facebook, follow us in Twitter (@wearstereotyped), and follow our blog in Tumblr to get updates from us! Keep tuned in ’cause we’ll be releasing our PILOT collection in a matter of days time! We hope you’re excited because damn we are!

The horses are coming so you better run

Indeed. Thank you Florence + The Machine for making this day bearable.

Last Week in Photos

Straight from the GPB last week, I really didn’t have a weekend. Props to my body for not crashing, LOL! Anyway, I love this week because it’s so busy and productive. But it was also fun. Lots and lots of fun with friends, officemates, collaborators, and what have you.
