Moonleaf: My Summer Staycation BTS
Sasha, Justine, Rutherford, Gela, and Bruce
These are just some of the behind-the-scenes of our shoot for The Moonleaf Summer 2012 Campaign shot by Joseph Pascual and filmed by Judd Figuerres. The locations were Maginhawa street and the vast grassy area that is the University of the Philippines – Diliman. I had the honor to tag along and experience working with these amazing people… oh just look how much fun we are having.
Do you agree with me that it looks like sundae cone?
Just as we were setting up for the second location at UP, we found ourselves playing around and had a shoot within a shoot. It was fun! With the beautiful sun and all. AND. THAT. DOLL. LOLz!
Make up and grooming c/o Ms. Kim Alcoreza

Moonleaf: My Summer Staycation 2012

Come to think of it, staycation isn’t a bad idea at all. Though I’d really love to be in the islands by now because of this heat staring down at us, the city isn’t that unbearable with my favorite milk tea in hand.
See you all at Moonleaf!

Close Up Pyromusical + Concert!
It felt like I threw a big birthday party! LOLz!
Ian Batherson, Valerie Weigmann
I was invited to the press conference, pyromusical, and concert held by Close Up Philippines on the same day my birthday is! I really had plans with friends to watch the fireworks on my birthday when they invited me so I requested if I can bring along Angela and Hanna as well! Thank you to Close Up for accommodating me and my friends!!! I really felt special that day – they even greeted me on Twitter that day, it was so crazy!
We were led to the VIP section of the Close Up stage. They had a separate stage from the SM stage (which is near the bay area.) Very excluded from the crowd outside, and it was just comfy there. I didn’t even have to worry about my things. Most importantly, I could see the artists perform really near, and of course, take good photos!
Thanks to Audrey, Dom, and (missing in the photo) Carla for the invite!
The pyromusical was up first! Italy presented first —
Then, an intermission. The #NewCloseUpSong was introduced and some former Close Up hits were also played.
And Never The Strangers with the #NewCloseUpSong, Moving Closer
The winners of the Pyromusical were announced, then the Philippine team presented. There was a technical difficulty, and seriously SM needs back up plans when this happens again. Anyhow, they recovered after some 30+ minutes and continued with the show. Nothing really spectacular but it was good.
And then more artists performed!!!!
Rico Blanco, who was also celebrating his birthday that day, was the last to perform! He did quite a set and I was actually singing to Antukin and Liwanag sa Dilim. Thank you, Rico, for singing such beautiful songs! It was very appropriate for our birthday!
Another Rico! DJ Rico Robles!
It was a tiring day (and night) at MOA, but the party ain’t over since some friends are waiting over at Delish in Maginhawa for some drinks!!! Love these guys to bits!!!
I can’t wait til my next birthday! So far, it just gets better and better!

The (healthy) mouthwatering servings at M Cafe O____O
We’ve all seen the power of social networks, but this time around, Bench harnesses its strength for a good cause, with its historic 1M for 1M campaign.
Enlisting the help of its endorsers, Bench has drummed up a list of 15 foundations for the ultimate goal of endowing one of these charities with 1 million pesos.

#MoonleafOnJessicaSoho
I missed watching this on TV, but yay because GMA’s so quick to post it online! Spot Moonleaf in the segment! Special thanks to @stacydejesus for giving me heads up that it’s available online already. Lurve you, girl!:)
P.S. This trended last Sunday no. 1 in the Philippines!!! So proud of you, Moonleaf Tea Shop! Like them in Facebook, Follow in Twitter, and also in Tumblr! :)
Binondo Tweetup
Grabbed the opportunity to do a photowalk of Chinatown even though I was running an hour late for our tweetup. I love Chinatown in the morning – it’s so busy and bustling with life. Also, I’m so excited for this tweetup – it’s been months since I’ve seen these people! Yay for tweetup and Chinese food = perfect combo!
Thank you Cafe Mezzanine for sponsoring our first tweetup for 2012
Kiampong. I love the nutty, machang-y flavor of the rice.
Asado. Best asado I’d had. Love that it ain’t too sweet.
Chinese Kikiam. Not a fan, but it’s fine.
Gokong. I love meaty soups. This one’s super pasok sa banga!
Cafe Mezzanine is inherited and now owned by Gerry Chua a.k.a. Mr. Ube (also, owner of hopiang ube fame Eng Bee Tin.) They serve Xiamen, or Chinese street style, which according to Mr. Ube himself is the major Chinese cuisine predominant in the Philippines. What makes this place special is that 100% of their profit goes to the Binondo-Paco Fire Department and to TXTFIRE.
Yellow row: Reg, Ramon, Raffy.
Mr. Ube is so funny and animated. He told us stories of his business, his life, and his volunteerism. Such an inspiring man, if you ask our group.
Mr. Ube wanted to show us the TXTFIRE office and facilties, so he invited us over at their HQ. It was a bit surprising to find technology like this in the middle of Chinatown.
As if the day did not lead us to tire ourselves already, we found ourselves still walking around Chinatown. This time, in search of butter chicken.
Don’t let the signage fool you. They serve really yummy Chinese food!
Butter Chicken. Satisfy thy craving for chicken and fat. Perfect while hot.
Oyster cake. I can taste the sea in my mouth! Plenty of oyster bits in a glutinous omelette.
Scallops and broccoli. Our ONLY veggie meal, but equally delicious. I just wish there are bigger scallops in this dish.
Machang. Note to self: Do not eat this by yourself. Incredibly heavy rice cake with chunks (read: big) of meat inside.
Chinese Kikiam. Again, not a fan. But this one’s better than Mezzanine’s
We still weren’t done after eating like there’s no tomorrow. Coffee and Asado ensued at Cafe Sa Lido. Don’t ask why, it’s yummy and it’s reason enough to do it. No pictures though. Either I was too tired, too full, or too happy to snap one.
P.S. This is our longest tweetup ever. Lasted for almost eight hours! Are we gunning for 12 the next time, tweeps?
P.S.S. Wanna join us in our next adventure, follow us in Tumblr or like us in Facebook to know more about us.

#itsmorefuninthephilippines
Earlier this day DOT announced its newest campaign to boost tourism in the country. Introducing #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines! There’s a lot to like about the current DOT admin now, and one of them is employing really GOOD graphic artists! Don’t you like the campaign materials? Check out the logo below —

Also, it makes heavy use of social media which makes it participative. Everyone is invited to promote the Philippines, everyone has the chance to contribute. Make this hashtag #itsmorefuninthephilippines trend worldwide by tweeting why it is indeed more fun in the Philippines! Be creative: tweet your favorite photos, videos, statements that are uniquely Filipino. With social media, who knows what heights the Philippine tourism can take!
