It is something to want to change something. It is something else to act upon it. I believe everyone of us wants to change the world in a way or another – whether it be the government, the environment, the roads, or even simply how people eat or fall in love (maisingit lang!)

Tattoo by Globe Telecom acknowledges this desire to effect change in any way. With Cat@lyst, their CSR arm, along with Global Shapers, introduces ICT Youth Challenge – to give you this chance of a lifetime… Continue reading

Singapore and some others

DSC_0461

After two years (oh how I miss MTV Asia!) I’ll be back in Singapore, now for St. Jerome’s Laneway festival to be held at the new The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Now, I’ll have more time to go around to experience the famed lion city. I really cannot hide my excitement!!! OF MONSTERS AND MEN is playing among other amazing bands. I’m also excited for Kings of Convenience, Gotye, Kimbra, Bat for Lashes, ALT-J, and Polica! And that’s just the cherry on top! There’s a total of 14 bands playing (others are Tame Impala, Yeasayer, Real Estate, Nicolas Jaar, Japandroids, Cloud Nothings, and Divine Fits) Hope I win the Meet and Greet too! Teehee!

I’ll be live tweeting at the event… and mostly for my stay in Singapore. Thanks to Globe’s BridgeUnlimited unlimited surfing, it’s more affordable AND just easy to register but just the same reliable service we get while roaming. So if you wanna keep tabs on what’s happening during Laneway, feel free to follow @Jonver_David!

PLUS… I’m planning a blog reboot. Whew! I’ve been scared to tell here, because it’d be so much pressure, but now I’m really sure! Keep tuned in for developments and I hope you’re still ready to follow my blog in its soon-to-be new home.

Psyched!

But before I even spazz about the biggest shopping holiday in the US, let me introduce you to what you may have known for the past few weeks already. It’s the biggest collaboration everyone has been talking about from the moment it was announced. I don’t even know if I should name it, but what the hell. I’m too happy and perky, haha!

And what is the relevance of all this when we live in the faraway land of MANILA? Not anymore! Introducing the GCASH American Express Virtual Card! It’s the answer to your shopping needs this Black Friday and even the Holiday season. Watch this quick video to know more about this:

Isn’t it great? You get to ship your goods to a virtual US ADDRESS (so you can take advantage of free shipping perks on some stores) and ship it to Manila at a lessened cost. What’s even better to know is that you don’t need a credit card to shop online. Loving the way you pay, eh?

So Black Friday just started a few hours ago and you still have roughly 20 hours to go before it ends! Watch the video above to guide you and go register now for your GCASH AmEx virtual card and enjoy your Black Friday shopping! Let me know what you bought, hihi :)

MB, what?

Who’s a fan of Johnoy Danao here? Yes, he’s the composer-singer who toured the Moonleaf Tea Shop chain and who sang the jingle above. Listen to this beautifully composed song (which sticks to your ears, really) explaining how to use your internet efficiently and wisely!

Learn and enjoy, folks!

Social, you say?

I’m too busy to stay at one place to open a computer and check my online accounts. Consider also that my work revolves around social networks, and that doesn’t really discount that I stay home all-day to check Facebook and Twitter… and the never-ending list of social media platforms. So thank the heavens for apps that makes our online and mobile lives easier. With the right device (battery is an issue here!) and mobile connection, you’ll never have to say… “late status” ever again!

WordPress

Oct 13, 2012, 5:00 AM

It’s a no-brainer that my first social app to put here is my blog platform! I really love how WordPress did their iPad app. It’s convenient, and minimal. It’s easy to use with one thing that I wish they put in the updates in the future – I wish there’s an option to easily upload multiple photos. Aside from that, I can totally live with blogging using an iPad only.

Tumblr

Oct 13, 2012, 5:10 AM

Need you Tumblr fix? It’s available in your phone/tablet… All you need is connection and you can post, reblog, and like posts from this app. You can also manage ALL your accounts, so it’s easy to shift from one Tumblr account to another. Woohoo!

Get Glue

Oct 13, 2012, 5:12 AM

For those not familiar with Get Glue, it is a social media platform that highlights media like TV shows, movies, books, music, among others. With their updated app, you can now learn more about the movie or TV show that you’re watching in the app!

Foodspotting

Oct 13, 2012, 5:10 AM

This one’s for the foodies out there! Using GPS, Foodspotting locates the nearest food places and also shows the pictures people have shared. Now that’s one convenient app to find out where to go on your next big date!

Soundcloud

Oct 13, 2012, 5:14 AM

Mainstream or hipster, you’ll love this app if you love music! Share your favorite music through this app, and discover some new upcoming bands and music along the way, too!

Flipboard

Oct 13, 2012, 5:05 AM

I bet you didn’t expect to see this here. But as for news sharing (add to that reading your tweets in a very organized way) Flipboard is your reading buddy!

Pinterest

Oct 13, 2012, 5:01 AM

Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social media platforms nowadays, and I wouldn’t be surprised if most, if not all, people would gravitate towards this photo and video sharing, moodboard-inspired platform. Pin, re-pin, and browse with all ease… and mobility using this app!

BBM/iMessage

Oct 13, 2012, 5:15 AM

Oct 13, 2012, 5:02 AM

Messaging is becoming innovative these days! What I love about these two apps is that they have a “Delivered-Read” function that relays to the sender if his/her message has been read or delivered. It’s really great if you have important messages and you need to know if the person has read it or not. Also, you can share media through these, which made it pretty much more awesome…

Grindr

Oct 13, 2012, 5:00 AM

I won’t even pretend that I use this, haha! I mean c’mon, it’s the world’s leading gay location-based chatting app! I won’t explain how it works, ’cause I think it’s pretty obvious, haha! Took a screenshot while it hasn’t loaded other people though, we don’t want outing people, do we? *WINK*

Instagram

Oct 13, 2012, 4:59 AM

The first app that I was so excited to use when I got my iPad is Instagram! It still is the world’s leading photo-sharing app, and don’t you love the filters? It’s integrated too with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, Foursquare, and email that makes it one of the most powerful photo-sharing app also… Only if it has an iPad version… Hello Instagram, iPad is a mobile device too!

So the next big question is, what do you use to stay connected 24/7? I don’t know about you, but I use Globe Mobile Data services! To know more about Globe’s mobile data services and options, log on to http://surf.globe.com.ph/ and start enjoying these social apps!

Can I just pay via an App?

Now you can! I just downloaded the GCASH App right after I heard there is (much to my surprise!) and I started testing the features. Apparently, GCASH had just relaunched and is now even better and more functional.

So all you need to do is to download the app (it’s free, btw) and launch it. Make sure that you have registered first via sending an SMS to 2882

Enter your MPIN, and you’re good to go with the app. With the GCASH App, you can now send money, pay bills, buy prepaid load, and even donate cash! Converting money, paying bills and buying prepaid load is free of charge.

It also has a summarized home view where you can view your transactions for a month, which is really useful especially if a bulk of your transactions are done thru GCASH.

All you need for this App is a smartphone (available in iOS, Android, and BlackBerry) and a Globe SIM.

***

In a world where there’s an app for everything, it’s really great that a local brand can come up with a very functional app. While it has a lot to improve at (like eliminating SMS registration and optimizing list of brands tied up with) it’s a still a  big leap forward for a local brand like Globe.

What do you think of the GCASH App? Can you think of ways to incorporate it in your daily lives? Let me know in the comments section below :)

Her name is Onika you can call her Nicki

576112_10151267101219554_287617456_n

Just met Nicki Minaj earlier today and it was awesome (I love her leggings!!!) though I was a bit a late. Thanks to our friends from STATUS Magazine who took a picture and posted it immediately at their blog (you guys are soooo awesome!) Didn’t bring my big-ass DSLR camera because I don’t wanna leave it in the baggage counter later at the concert area. I seriously need a smaller camera and/or a new phone. Hihi :P

Now I’m just killing time and waiting for her concert later at the MOA arena. Who’s watching later? See you there!

P.S. I still don’t have shiny leggings. I suck at shopping for these kinda things. Where do I get some? :(

Thanks to Globe and BlackBerry Philippines!
